Deb Compton

Creative Grooming Artist & Competition Veteran

Deb Compton is a highly respected name in the world of creative dog grooming, known for her sculptural scissoring, coat carving, and imaginative color work. With a career in the pet care industry that began in 1996, Deb’s passion and artistry have taken her from the local grooming table to international spotlight.

Salon Founder & Innovator: In 2011, Deb opened her own salon, In the Dogz House, in Fitchburg, WI, with a holistic, cage-free philosophy.

Competition Success: She has competed since 2011 and has earned multiple national and international awards, including first place in creative styling at the All American Grooming Competition.

TV Personality: Deb gained national recognition as a contestant on Season One of ABC’s Pooch Perfect, competing alongside fellow groomers in high-pressure creative challenges.

Educator & Mentor: Since 2018, she has traveled globally to teach her signature techniques—delivering seminars in places like South Korea, Taiwan, Puerto Rico, and across the U.S.

Industry Leader: Beyond her hands-on grooming, Deb works as a consultant for grooming salons — advising on product development, personnel, and business strategy.

Philosophy & Values: Her approach to grooming emphasizes low stress, sustainability, and individualized care. Her salon was built using recycled materials, and she avoids kennels and traditional cage dryers to reduce stress for the dogs.

Mentorship: She also brings family into her work — she competed on Pooch Perfect alongside her son, strengthening both their personal and professional bonds.

Deb champions growth — for herself, for other groomers, and for the industry as a whole. Her philosophy is simple yet powerful: “Never stop learning. Always seek out judgment … because you can’t grow without it.”
